The first thing you would think when it comes to skin cancer is that it would end up on your skin. Of course, it would because where else could skin cancer end up? Well, what people are thinking of skin cancer ending up on only visible areas of the skin. The fact of the matter is that skin cancer can end up anywhere and let’s go over the 10 places that you could potentially have this deadly issue.
#10 – Inside Of Your Mouth
The last place where you could imagine skin cancer happening is in your mouth but it can. And this is why it is important for your dentist to always check under your tongue, the back of your throat, inside of your cheek area, and your gums for possible signs of skin cancer. White patches that appear like canker sores could be a sign which is what you need to look out for.
#9 – On The Sole Of Your Foot
The soles of your feet could have plenty of bumps and crevices as a result of it being dried out. You are on your feet all of the time so it is not a surprise that would be the case. However, if you notice any red bumps with pus or dark areas of your soles then this can be problematic and you will want to make sure that they are checked thoroughly by your doctor. Better yet, if you are concerned then you will want to make a referral to a podiatrist as they would be able to determine what any strange marks are on the bottom of your feet.
#8 – Look Inside Of Your Nails
The next time you take off your nail polish, look carefully to see if there are any dark-colored streaks underneath your nails. That can be a sign of skin cancer, and the same goes for your toenails.
#7 – Your Ears
How would you know if you have skin cancer on your ears since there are so many crevices and shapes? And just because your earlobes look fine, you would not necessarily think that anything could be lurking in the curvy areas of your ears. Any strange marks on your ears can be a sign of trouble.
#6 – Your Eyelids
You would not necessarily think that your eyelids could end up with skin cancer, but they can. Even if you are wearing sunglasses to constantly keep your eyes protected from the sun. Check your eyelids in the mirror and see if there are any odd marks, or have a friend or your partner do it for you.
#5 – The Areas Between Your Toes
It is very easy to skip the areas between your toes when you are putting sunscreen on. However, this is why it is even more important to check those areas because skin cancer can lurk there as well. Any dark spots in those areas will need to be examined.
#4 – Underneath The Breasts
Women likely don’t check for strange marks underneath their breasts as they are focused on checking their breasts themselves for signs of cancer. But skin cancer can lurk around underneath the breasts. They may appear as if they are pimples that don’t go away. They may just that, pimples or skin tags. However, it is always important to have a doctor check them just in case. And by the way, this advice goes to men as well.
#3 – Your Tattoos
Your tattoos are on your skin, yes, but at the same time, you would not be able to notice any signs of cancer that are hidden by the ink. This is why if you are inked on any part of your body, you will need to have your doctor examine those areas thoroughly for signs. You would not likely notice the signs at all.
#2 – Your Scalp
Unless you are bald, you would not even think about the possibility of your scalp showing signs of cancer. This is why you will want to be fully examined by a family member who can see unusual marks that are underneath your hair on your scalp. And your doctor will need to examine that as well just in case.
#1 – The Southern Hemisphere
We are talking about your anus and genitals. You could potentially have skin cancers and will not know it. You will not be able to check if you have any strange marks on your anus but your trusted partner would if you have one. And you can check your genital area. If you are concerned, consult with your doctor.
Now you know that skin cancer is not only going to be noticeable on your arms, neck, face, legs, or torso. There are plenty of other areas where it can lurk around. Be sure to get those areas checked thoroughly. Stay healthy.
