Many famous and successful people have been booted out of school, and yet, these people managed to turn their lives around and become top of their game. Although, one of them here remained a bully and a troublemaker for the rest of his life.
ALBERT EINSTEIN
The name Einstein is synonymous these days with genius. But Einstein’s early days were far from successful and genius-like. Born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany, Einstein, as everyone knows, wasn’t talking fluently until the age of 9.
As a child, Einstein attended Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich; however, the school with its rote learning system alienated the young Einstein.
Later in high school, at the age of 16, Einstein was expelled for misbehavior and a rebellious attitude. After this, Einstein spent some time traveling around before re-enrolling and completing school in his new home in Zurich, Switzerland.
LILY ALLEN
Songbird Lily Allen was born in Hammersmith, London, on May 2, 1985. She had a troubled school life and did not make many friends during her school years.
She was expelled many times from high school for: drinking, smoking, and X-rated activities. She eventually attended 13 schools altogether.
However, Allen achieved grade 5 standard on piano and achieved Grade 8 in singing. She also played the violin, guitar, and trumpet, and was a member of a chamber choir.
ROBERT PATTINSON
Born in London, United Kingdom on May 13, 1986, Robert Pattinson is widely known for his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter, and for appearing as Edward Cullen in the Twilight films.
Expelled from school at the age of 12, Robert Pattinson was booted out because he didn’t do his homework, and only occasionally turned up for lessons. His report cards also said that he didn’t try very hard.
JACKIE COLLINS
The novelist Jacqueline Collins (1937 –2015) was born in Hampstead, London.
At the age of 15, she was expelled from Francis Holland School for playing truant, selling dirty limericks (written by herself), and smoking behind a tree on the lacrosse pitch.
RICHARD PRYOR
Richard Pryor (1940 –2005) grew up in his grandmother’s brothel, where his mother worked as a prostitute.
According to Pryor, he was kicked out of Catholic School, after attending for only 3 weeks, at the age of 14, when the nuns found out that his mother worked in a whorehouse.
BENITO MUSSOLINI
Benito Mussolini, the fascist dictator, was born in northern Italy in 1883.
This man, who became known as Il Duce, had a reputation as a bully as a child and was expelled from school for stabbing another student in the buttocks with a pen-knife in 1894, and throwing an object at a teacher.
