Although we tend to consider them normal, certain sounds produced by our body can signal the presence of a health problem. Therefore, we must not overlook them.
Did you know that there are several sounds produced by the body that you should never ignore?
The human body represents the perfect machinery in existence. It is so wise that whenever it has a problem at its level, our body can warn us. Unfortunately, we are rarely aware of these alarms and generally ignore them completely.
The signals transmitted by our bodies are often in the form of sounds. It can be snapping, ringing in the ears, snoring, noises in the stomach, and more.
In today’s article, we present eight sounds of body products that deserve all the attention.
Noisy Leg Joints
This type of sound can be caused by several factors, as follows:
- Muscle fatigue, which could be accompanied by blood vessel congestion and knee joint wear due to overload.
- Anatomical features of the ligaments and meniscus which, although not affecting the mobility of the legs, produce very noticeable noises.
- Days characterized by excessive movement, especially if the body is unused with a lot of physical effort.
In most cases, these sounds do not signal a problem. But if they are followed by pain or inflammation, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
We must undergo a medical check-up because the sound cause could be a torn meniscus ligament or even arthritis.
Constant snoring
Snoring is caused by the vibration of the airways when air flows through the mouth or nose.
Even though it is widespread, doctors know that snoring is generally based on a type of obstruction or blockage in the nostrils, mouth, or throat.
Here are the leading causes of snoring, which should help you get your doctor’s appointment:
- Loss of neck muscle
- Obesity
- Reactions to certain drugs
- Excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Blocking of the nasal passages
- Deviated septum
Jaw popping
Sometimes the jaw popping is caused by the displacement of the temporal-mandibular joint. Other times this joint can be affected by arthritis.
Jaws may also be a consequence of bruxism (the unconscious habit of gritting teeth), tooth decay, or the presence of high tension in the face.
Regardless, we advise you to consult a specialist.
Noises in the ears
Often that buzz that we perceive in the ears disappears on its own without treatment. But if such sounds occur regularly and do not fade quickly, you should go to the doctor. Unusual ear noises can be caused by an infection or an internal ear disease.
Morning snap, crackle, pop
This kind of noise appears suddenly. In general, it is short and very annoying. The causes of these intense noises are still unknown.
Cracking Shoulder
In this situation, the pop could be caused by:
- Tendonitis, i.e., inflammation of the tendons due to a blow or excessive attrition
- Bursitis, i.e., inflammation of the sac between the bone and the ligament of the shoulder
- Rotator cuff ruptures
Snapping elbow
The snapping may indicate a mechanical problem in the joints. Causes of this symptom include:
- Inadequate nutrition, which alters the composition of bones and joints
- Localized infections
- Metabolic problems
- Injuries caused by powerful blows
- Sedentary or over-demanding and wrong moves
In such situations, if the sounds persist for a long time, and the sound is accompanied by pain and inflammation, consult a doctor for proper treatment.
Neck Cracking and Grinding
The pops in the neck can be much more dangerous than we suspect. They are often a symptom of a neurological problem affecting tissues, such as Parkinson’s disease.
At the same time, this sound may be caused by increased thyroid cartilage size. In this case, the clicks will disappear, and the problem will be solved on its own.
Note that if any of those eight sounds or any other strange sound produced by the body is accompanied by inflammation or pain, it is essential to get proper treatment. Talk to your doctor, do not take any treatment without his advice, and do not try to diagnose yourself.
