A heart attack is one of the most frightening things that you can ever go through. And the chances of you ending up with one if you have good cardiovascular health are very low. However, it still can happen due to hidden genetic issues that can immediately show up at any time no matter how well you take care of yourself such as having a mutation of the RYR2 gene.
However, in most cases, if you are predisposed to having a heart attack, there are eight warning signs that you will have a month before it happens. Therefore, if you exhibit any of the signs listed below, then you must keep yourself monitored:
Fatigue
Fatigue can result from any underlying condition and that is characterized by extreme tiredness and no motivation to do anything. You are also mentally and emotionally tired as well. Doing simple tasks such as showering is a chore and is exhausting. This is a common symptom, especially among women before having a heart attack. If you are suddenly fatigued and it is chronic, then you need to see your doctor.
Stomach Pain
If you are consistently having pain in your stomach, especially after eating which can include nausea, then that can be a warning sign that a heart attack is on its way as well. The pains are usually episodic in nature as they ease and then come back. If you are also tense physically then that worsens stomach pain as well.
Insomnia
If you have had issues with falling and/or staying asleep in the past, you can easily miss insomnia as a warning sign that a heart attack is on its way. However, if you normally sleep for at least six hours a night and all of a sudden you cannot get more than three hours of sleep, that is a warning sign. Especially if you are doing your best to keep your sleep hygiene clean.
Shortness Of Breath
If you are struggling to take in a deep breath, and it is consistent, that is also a warning sign of a heart attack. In fact, you can have this symptom up to six months before a heart attack comes on. You may wonder if you have a condition with your lungs but it can be your heart being under tremendous stress instead.
Hair Loss
About half of men that are close to having a heart attack experience more hair loss, and it can happen in women as well. However, hair loss is a symptom of cardiovascular disease as it also can be an indication of too much cortisol in the body. Stress increases cortisol levels if it is unmanaged and that is also why too much stress can negatively impact heart health.
Arrhythmia
Arrhythmia is also known as irregular or skipped heartbeats but it is not always an indicator of heart disease. Strenuous exercise or panic attacks can cause irregular heartbeats to happen in healthy people. However, if there is evidence of irregular heartbeats that are not caused by any of those things, then that shows that the heart is not working properly. It can also last for one to two minutes and if it lasts longer, it can cause dizziness and tiredness. An EKG will detect skipped heartbeats.
Sweating Too Much
If you are excessively sweating, tat can also be a warning sign of a heart attack. It can happen at anytime but it happens often at night, and women experience the sweats even more. It can be confused with hot flashes which happens before and during menopause. However, the difference is that along with the sweats there are flu-like symptoms and regular hot flashes don’t feature flu-like symptoms.
Chest Pain
Chest pain is the obvious sign of an impending heart attack that can affect men and women. However, it mostly affects men and if they have chest pains in addition to pain in the left arm and shoulder, then they must get to the hospital immediately. Sometimes pain in both arms is felt as well as the lower jaw and the stomach as well.
If you have any of these symptoms do not ignore them and see your doctor. And if you are afraid you are experiencing a heart attack, call the paramedics right away such as 911 in the US or Canada, and take an aspirin and chew it if you are not allergic to it. It can save you.
