When you get home after a busy day, you deserve to kick off your shoes. You don’t have to go barefoot at home to relax your tired feet. The health and beauty of your feet can be adversely affected if you walk around without house shoes.
That means you will want to put your socks on (as you should be wearing socks while wearing shoes, too, to help keep the bacteria managed) or your slippers, and then you can walk around your home as much as you want. But do not walk around your home or anywhere else indoors without your socks. It is a bad idea to be barefoot! Let’s talk about why.
Your Feet Are In Contact With Bacteria
Just because you just cleaned the floor doesn’t mean it’s germ-free. Even though your floors may appear clean, there is still a lot of harmful bacteria and fungi in the house dust. Walking around barefoot exposes you to microorganisms that can infect your feet’s skin. As a result, your toenails will become yellow and brittle due to the infection. When that happens, you have a fungal infection, and you will need to treat that as soon as possible, or else you will get others infected in the home too.
Hard Surfaces Are Not Healthy For Your Feet
It feels nice to walk barefoot on grass sometimes and may even help you de-stress, but doing so indoors may actually damage your feet. Your feet sink naturally into softer surfaces, allowing them to support your insides. However, most floors are too hard, and walking without shoes causes unnatural stress that can eventually lead to heel and knee pain. You will end up having to go to the podiatrist often because of having pained feet.
You Could Get Hurt
If you take off your shoes at the end of the day and let them breathe, you probably feel better, but it might lead to falls and injury if you walk around without shoes. Studies have shown that wearing slippers or socks without shoes can result in falls and pulled muscles. What you can always do is have a pair of indoor shoes, which is best to do so you do not bring bacteria, pollutants, and other toxins from outside.
It Is Bad For Your Back
There’s actually a scientific explanation for why you feel sore after walking barefoot. The uneven distribution of weight on your feet occurs when you walk barefoot on hard surfaces. Your knees and back may also be affected by this imbalance, which can worsen existing foot deformities. Therefore, if you do go to the chiropractor because of a very sore back, they may also tell you to go to that podiatrist.
Your Feet Will Smell More
Besides making your legs and back hurt, walking barefoot regularly can cause unpleasant body odor. In gym showers as well as at home, not wearing shoes leaves you vulnerable to bacteria. These infections can cause your feet to smell when you walk barefoot.
When you get home from work, or from elsewhere, you will want to remove your shoes. You should do that when it comes to shoes that have been outdoors as they are full of pollutants and bacteria. However, you will want to wear an indoor pair of shoes because walking around barefoot will only hurt you. If you have not been wearing your indoor shoes and walking around your home barefoot, you will want to rethink that because it is only putting you at risk which is something you do not want to have to deal with at all.
