A Starfish, otherwise just known as a Seastar, are some of the most peculiar creature’s you will ever see come out of the ocean. They have many different shapes, sizes, colors, and they have workable systems just like any other living creature out there. They are bizarre animals but animals; nonetheless, ones that are continually studied every day to find out as much as possible about this very unique creatures. Are they really fish?
No, they are not really fish, they have none of the capacities or the amenities that a fish has and are the farthest thing you can get from a fish. They are actually really called sea stars, but since they live in the water, they are instantly retooled as fish by the public. They don’t even move around by fins but by their tube feet. (The pointy tubs all over their body)
How many species are there?
There are thousands of different species of this creature, for an exact estimate we have counted over 1,600 unique versions of these marine animals, each one unique to its own form of water.
Do they really all have five arms?
No, Sea stars don’t just have five arms; some verities of the sea star actually have over 40 different arms, now that is a lot of arms!
Can they regenerate like a worm?
They sure can. If something were to happen to one of their arms, it would eventually regenerate it. This is also used as a defense mechanism when there are predators afoot, it can detach one of its arms to run away from it before it could be eaten. In addition, believe it or not, if the arm survives, it can actually form into a new sea star, we kid you not.
Do they have blood?
They don’t have blood in their body, instead of that, they have a system of waster in their body pumped into them by the ocean water. This lets them not only move but continue to live as without water they’d dry up, which is a terrible thing.
