The Silk Road
The Silk Road was a trade route in Ancient China. These routes stretched from Western, Eastern and Southern Asia with Europe, Northeast Africa, and the Mediterranean. These routes were named for the silk that the Chinese traded with. The term “Silk Routes” is the term preferred to address these routes.
Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is one of the most well-known wonders in the modern world. This wall was built by several Chinese dynasties. One section of this wall was built between 220-206 BC by Qin Shi Huang. This was made to protect the northern borders of China. The majority of the wall that stands was constructed during the Ming Dynasty.
Siamese cats and the Great Wall
It has also been said that Emperor Tsu was very superstitious and Siamese cats were hunted because of their looks, the way that they meow and they were thought to spread disease. They were hunted down & the Great Wall was built supposedly to keep the infestation out. This didn’t work, however.
