The Dirtiest Thing in Your Office Isn’t What You’d Think

What are the items that you use often when you are at your office? Before you list those items on top of your head, you probably can agree on that the effort you put into cleaning your home, you don’t do for your office. And cleaning the office really takes a team effort to do, but does anyone do it? Probably not. This is why you will want to keep a disinfectant by you at your desk.

Let’s now talk about the nine dirtiest things in your office.

The Water Cooler

Water Cooler

It is important to stay hydrated throughout your working day which is why offices put out water coolers. But the fact that everyone uses it and transfers germs onto the cooler will cause you to pick up so many bacteria, viruses, and other gross germs. You are better off with bringing your own water in your own thermos to work! In addition to that, how often does the cooler get changed? You could be drinking very old water with bacteria in it. Bring your own.

The Office Fridge

The Office Fridge

If you got food poisoning after work one time, then there is a good chance that it was from either the old water or the old food in the fridge at the office. Food can stay in there and maybe quite old and expired which means bacteria will thrive on it. You are much better off bringing your own lunch and snacks in a thermal lunch box and you can add an ice pack in it.

Microwave

Microwave

How often does the office microwave get cleaned? Probably rarely and that means with all of the food heated up, there is a lot of bacteria attracted to the microwave and that means they are breeding inside. Would you want your food heated up in that? If you need to warm up your food at the office, then you will want to take a microwave-safe disinfectant wipe to wipe it down before heating it up. Clean the handles too!

Soap Dispenser

Soap dispenser

That soap dispenser you use to clean your hands with after using the bathroom or after touching something germy – it is full of germs itself. In fact, it is from others using it which means there is a lot of fecal bacteria on it. Be mindful of that the next time you use it. Use it once, and then scrub your hands up really well with the soap. Or better yet, bring your own soap and keep it with you so you know it is yours and it is fresh!

Your Desk

Your Desk

You are touching your desk and it is full of germs, the germs you bring of course. You will want to give your desk a wipe with a disinfectant wipe before sitting down each morning and wipe it again before leaving.

The Printer And Copier

The Printer And Copier

With your coworkers touching the keypad on the copier or printer, you have loads and loads of bacteria and viruses breeding on it. You will want to keep a PC wipe with you at all times before using the copier and printer so you don’t have to touch anyone else’s germs.

Your Headset

Headset

If you use a headset at work, then you will want to know how dirty it is. Your colleagues share it and that means there are plenty of unhealthy microbes lurking around on it. That is gross. You will want to give those headphones or headset a wipe with an antibacterial wipe before using it.

Your Mouse

Your Mouse

Just like your keyboard, your mouse is so dirty as it has your germs transferred onto it as well as food particles. You have plenty of bacteria and germs breeding on it. And a toilet seat is much cleaner than your keyboard and your mouse. Be sure to clean your mouse with the keyboard!

Your Keyboard

Your Keyboard

Your keyboard being full of germs should not be a surprise to you and you got your own food particles and dead skin cells on there – attracting bacteria and dust. Therefore, you got plenty of dust mites on it. You will want to clean your keyboard several times a week with a slightly damp and soapy cloth.

Now that you know that your office is dirtier than your home unless you don’t clean your home enough, then you will want to come armed with wipes and your own items instead of using the office items! You will stay healthier that way.
