The best thing to do is to sleep on your side or your back in order to mitigate the chances of you developing hip pain as a result of your sleeping position. Another cause of back pain has to do with your shoes.
The Shoes You Wear Can Cause Hip Pain
If you are wearing fancy shoes often but don’t fit well, then your feet are not properly supported. That means your weight cannot be supported. Not only will you end up with foot pain, but you will end up with painful hips. And if you are a woman that wears high heels, that is another culprit of hip pain. Again, you may find them stylish, but they are not going to help you as they will cause you to face extra strain on your hips because in order for you to walk around as you support your weight, your hips will flex forward, and that causes pain. When you are not at an event or sleeping, your day job could also be contributing to it.

If you sit at your desk job for eight hours or so, it is not surprising that sitting for so long will cause you hip pain. Even if you sit straight up, it will still add pressure to your hips, which is why you may find yourself in pain while relaxing at home after work. While you are at work, you are not paying attention to the pain. But when you no longer need to be so focused, then the pain in your hips will hit you. The best thing you can do is walk around several times a day so you are not stuck at your desk all the time at work. Sometimes medical causes can be the culprit.
